Search Federal BOP Releases

To find someone released from Federal Bureau of Prisons custody after a federal case connected with Navarro County, search the BOP's nationwide record. Federal sentenced prisoners belong to a different system from the Navarro County jail and Texas prisons. A federal detainee may also remain with the U.S. Marshals Service before BOP designation, so a locator miss does not prove release. No BOP institution was identified in Navarro County. The facility entry therefore covers federal prisons nationwide and the records that confirm when BOP custody ended, not an unverified local prison or release gate.

Federal Releases Affecting Navarro County

A person can enter federal custody through a federal case even when an arrest or temporary placement occurs near Navarro County. Sentenced federal prisoners are tracked by BOP. Pretrial and fugitive prisoners are commonly managed by USMS and may be housed in state, local, or private contract space. Physical presence in a county jail does not turn a federal detainee into a county defendant.

No official evidence reviewed identified a BOP institution in Navarro County. Use the nationwide locator. Do not attach the county jail's address, roster, release times, or local bond process to a federal prison record.

Choose the federal population first. BOP covers sentenced federal prisoners. A person awaiting federal trial under USMS control may not appear in BOP at all.

Search a Federal BOP Release

The BOP Inmate Locator covers federal inmates from 1982 forward. Identifier search reduces mistaken matches, while name search supplies demographic filters.

  1. Open the official BOP locator and choose number or name search.
  2. Enter the BOP register, DCDC, FBI, or INS number when known.
  3. Otherwise enter the person's name and use race, age, and sex filters offered by the locator.
  4. Compare the register number and all returned identity fields.
  5. Read location and release date together, preserving the exact BOP label.

A past date with location shown as “RELEASED” means the person is no longer in BOP custody. It does not rule out supervised release, another custodian, or a later case. A future date is projected. “UNKNOWN” means the term is not determined in the displayed record.

BOP says its locator updates daily and warns that sentence recalculations can alter release information. Save the retrieval date. Records before 1982 require a National Archives route rather than a conclusion based on a modern locator miss.

Federal BOP Locator Fields

The federal result is narrower than a full case file. Pair it with the federal judgment or docket when the legal basis for confinement or release matters.

Result fieldWhat it supports
NameThe identity recorded by BOP; confirm with number and demographics.
Register numberThe strongest public identifier for the BOP record.
Age, race, sexAdditional identity comparison fields.
Release datePast or projected date depending on status and location label.
LocationA current institution or the exact “RELEASED” label.
UNKNOWNA displayed indication that the term is not determined.

“Not in BOP custody” is broader than release to the community. It can describe a person under another authority, outside the locator's covered data, or in a federal phase BOP does not control. The federal docket and responsible custodian supply the missing context.

Federal BOP Records and Contact

The locator is the first no-cost check for a former federal prisoner. For a durable federal record, use BOP's Freedom of Information Act route and request a specific incarceration or release document rather than a broad personal file. Identity and privacy documentation, including DOJ-361 where applicable, may be required.

The BOP FOIA page gives the current request instructions. Ask for the identified person's public custody and release record, provide the register number, and state the relevant date range. Do not send the request to NCSO or TDCJ because neither agency holds the BOP sentence-administration record.

The manifest includes an official BOP locator capture that fits this nationwide system.

BOP Versus USMS Custody

USMS holds federal pretrial prisoners from a court detention order until acquittal, release, conviction, or delivery to BOP. It says most such prisoners are housed in state, local, or private facilities. That arrangement explains why someone can be physically present in a county jail yet absent from BOP.

Federal stagePrimary confirmation
Pretrial detentionFederal court docket, USMS, and the physical custodian.
Sentenced, awaiting designationFederal judgment plus USMS/BOP transition information.
BOP imprisonmentBOP register record and current institution.
BOP releaseBOP “RELEASED” result and date, with docket corroboration where needed.
Supervised releaseFederal court and U.S. Probation records appropriate to the case.

USMS has no general public former-prisoner locator equivalent to BOP. Its published policy also restricts prisoner photos and personal histories and treats arrival or departure time as sensitive. Use the federal court's release or detention order and a custodian-specific response rather than promising a USMS photo or movement log.

Navarro County Federal Handoffs

A Navarro County custody record can show a federal hold or transfer. In that event, NCSO proves when county control ended. It does not prove that federal control ended. A BOP result is relevant after a federal sentence, while the federal court and USMS route govern pretrial custody.

Likewise, a BOP release does not establish the end of every legal restraint. A person may begin a term of federal supervised release or move to another custodian. Reproduce the exact source labels and avoid substituting “free” for “released from BOP custody.”

Federal detainee
A person held under federal authority, often before final sentence.
Register number
The identifier attached to a BOP prisoner record.
Projected release
A future date that can change after sentence recalculation.
Supervised release
Court-ordered federal supervision outside prison after custody.

Confirm the Federal Release Chain

Begin with the system that held the person at the relevant time. For county departure, request NCSO's transfer classification. For federal pretrial status, inspect the federal docket and contact the responsible district or custodian. For a completed federal prison sentence, use BOP's locator and FOIA process.

The Navarro County released-inmate records hub explains how a county booking, state sentence, federal hold, or immigration transfer diverges. Keep each event attached to its own agency and timestamp.

A federal judgment may show the sentence and later supervision term, but it does not replace BOP's record of physical prison custody. Likewise, BOP cannot certify the exact end of an earlier Navarro County hold. Read the court order, county transfer entry, and federal record in order. This avoids treating delivery to BOP as release or treating a BOP release date as the end of federal court supervision.

When two locator results share a name, do not select one from age alone. Compare the register number, full name, race, sex, and federal case information. If identity remains uncertain, request clarification through the official BOP channel. A precise number-based query is safer than attaching a release label to a loose match.

Sentence recalculation can change a future date. The daily update statement describes how often BOP refreshes the locator, not a promise that every underlying sentence issue is resolved within one day. Use the current federal judgment and agency response for a disputed calculation.

Note: No county-located BOP prison was verified, so nationwide BOP records control this facility-system page.
